Science Magazine
I just finished reading "I Feel Sick" a comic series from the guy who gave us both Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Invader Z.I.M. His name is Jhoen Vasquez. Anyhow I wanted to place this link here because you may all know that I am a science geek. I am a lazy bum sometimes as well. My plans are working out perfectly and that is more to say than meets the eye or whatever you want to say.

Bad Astronomy
As an astronomer, teacher, lecturer and all-around science junkie, I am exposed to all sorts of people and their ideas about what goes on in the sky around them. I have been delighted to find that most people are very curious about the night (and day!) sky, but unfortunately a lot of misinformation is spread about astronomy. Sometimes this information is just plain silly, but many times it makes just enough sense that people believe it. Sometimes the news media help spread these ideas (like the one that you can spin or stand an egg on end during the Vernal Equinox), sometimes it's TV and sometimes it's plain old word of mouth, but the misinformation does get around ...blah...blah...blah...blah...

Sony Introduces Passage
UncleCrispy writes "Sony, a newcomer in the cable industry announced its new technology, Passage, on the opening day of the BroadBand Plus Show to the receptive ears of the cable community. "Sony's Passage Technology is a simple, elegant solution that allows equipment from multiple vendors to peacefully co-exist on legacy digital CATV networks" Now you won't be stuck with the SetTopBox your cable provider forces on you, but with Passage you should be able to go to the store and buy any box you want. If you want a DVR box, you can buy it, and you'll no longer be stuck with the rental fees. Sounds like it's a good deal for the cable providers and consumers, but how will current SetTopBox monopolies take the news?"

1 teaspoon olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced

COOK, rinse and drain ravioli according to package directions. Keep warm.

HEAT olive oil in large, nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion.

COOK, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden. Add sauce.

COOK, stirring occasionally, for 1 minute. Stir in pasta. Pour into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle cheese and breadcrumbs over pasta mixture; cover.

Atari Adventure
Find the Chalice and bring it back to the Gold Castle. Then slay the dragons with the sword. Here is a sample of my Macromedia Flash programming. Flash was designed as a vector animation tool for the web. Lately, however, it has developed scripting capabilities similar to its sister program, Macromedia Director, which is my native language.
I chose to recreate Atari Adventure with all its bleeps and bloops and chicken-looking dragons. As a kid this program fascinated and enticed me to become a programmer. It's a joy to be able to re-create it. Note that I took the liberty to rearrange a couple of items. Adventure was the first of its kind, the mother of all graphic adventure games from Ultima to Zelda. It was also the instigator of hidden backdoors and easter eggs (now staples in every video game).

We live on a mountain
Right at the top
There's a beautiful view
From the top of the mountain
Every morning I walk towards the edge
And throw little things off
Like:
Car-parts, bottles and cutlery
Or whatever I find lying around

It's become a habit
A way
To start the day

I go through all this
Before you wake up
So I can feel happier
To be safe up here with you

It's real early morning
No-one is awake
I'm back at my cliff
Still throwing things off
I listen to the sounds they make
On their way down
I follow him with my eyes 'till they crash
Imagine what my body would sound like
Slamming against those rocks

When it lands
Will my eyes
Be closed or open?

I go through all this
Before you wake up
So I can feel happier
To be safe up here with you

[ Morcheeba ]
Taking their name from a combination of "MOR" (middle-of-the-road) and "cheeba" (a slang name for marijuana), Morcheeba are a London-based trio who cite everything from Jimi Hendrix to '30s blues to hip-hop as musical influences. Their lush blend of trippy music and smooth vocals makes a concoction that's bluesy and funky at the same time.

I like to hang out here. I hung out here a lot last summer, but now that I have the job at the mall at the Cookie Store, I think I will be stopping by here on my way home. It would be so cool to come here and get their oh so good tomato and spinach soup. It's so good and it's good for you dammit.

This is where I'll be checking my email and so forth since the government has closed down the campus of MTSU. I like the feeling of when I walk in and it feels as though I'm walking underwater. Something that amazes me about this place is that not many people use the computers. Shocking isn't it?

TAG-BOARD
Tag boards are a new means of communication on the Internet. They are not a replacement for high-end message boards or forums, but rather they have far different uses. The real power of a tag board is its simplicity, which encourages visitors to enter a brief message and "Tag" for instant gratification, hassle-free. There is no special registration to fill out and no hoops to jump through.

Komeda
I found out about this group via watching videos at launch.com (I might as well place a link to their page on this page). The band's name is a homage to the late Polish film composer Krszytof Komeda, who is best known for scoring many Roman Polanski films including Rosemary's Baby. Komeda hail from Umeå, Sweden a university town just south of the Arctic Circle. Jonas and his younger brother Marcus Holmberg formed Komeda with guitarist Henrik Andersson and shortly recruited Jonas' former bandmate Lena Karlsson to handle lead vocals.

Laiki
I was recently introduced to this band thanks to Launchcast. Their web site describes says "...Laika confound expectations at every turn. TheyÕre not a rock band, but they play guitars. They're not an 'electronic' group in the usual sense of the term, yet they meld and twist samples with the best of them..." So if you're looking for a cool group with which to listen, click the link NOW.

INSULTINGLY STUPID MOVIE PHYSICS
"...Technonerds go to movies strictly for entertainment, and of course, the most entertaining part comes after the movie when they can dissect, criticize, and argue the merits of every detail. However, when supposedly serious scenes totally disregard the laws of physics in blatantly obvious ways it's enough to make us retch. The motion picture industry has failed to police itself against the evils of bad physics. This page is provided as a public service in hopes of improving this deplorable matter. The minds of our children and their ability to master vectors are (shudder) at stake..."

This radio station of Nashville is the BEST one here in this backwards city that I reside. Seriously folks, this station is about the artists that they play and they're about creating a nice atmosphere for the people who seek to indulge their sensory organs (I say this phrase yet again) to quality music. If you don't hear something you like within 30 minutes, the next hour is free.

Kosheen
If you're a drum & bass fan, there's a chance you will know of Kosheen trio Markee Substance, Darren Decoder and Sian Evans already, what with their debut 'Hide U' release smashing it up on the circuit last year and subsequently voted Best Single at the recent Drum & Bass Awards. But even if you're not a drum & bass fan, you might also recognise their music. Kosheen are one of the few acts on the dance scene who can claim to have had John Digweed spinning their track to finish his set at Bedrock one week and 5000 ravers singing a long to it at Helter Skelter the next. Or to have found favour with the drum & bass faithful, the breakbeat cognoscenti and the Dreem teem in the space of three singles.

It's a reason to get up in the morning. It's a reason to lose weight, to fit in the red dress. It's a reason to smile. It makes tomorrow all right. What have I got Harry, hm? Why should I even make the bed, or wash the dishes? I do them, but why should I? I'm alone. Your father's gone, you're gone. I got no one to care for. What have I got, Harry? I'm lonely. I'm old.

This site is dedicated to the research and study of the most bizarre items found for sale on internet auction sites.
